Brixton Branding & Packaging
Overview
Brixton is an established clothing and accessories brand that is all about timelessness, authenticity, and quality. They first started out as a hat making company and eventually crossed over into other areas of the fashion industry. Their target audience is mostly young men who are into things like skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, motorcycles, hiking, and craft beer. The current Brixton branding seemed outdated and did not match the tone and voice that is seen on their active social media sites.

Logos & Style Guide
My goal with the logo was to not only modernize the current logo, but make the tone more luxurious. The current logo (spring 2020 version) did not give off the tone that the rest of the brand touchpoints did and did not have any meaningful marks. It also felt outdated and pixelated on their website. In their current branding, they photograph a lot of their models on motorcycles and have an overall warm, rustic, vintage, hipster aesthetic. I was inspired by vintage motorcycle logos in my research and thought that aesthetic would be received well by Brixton’s customers. But, it’s not a an old motorcycle brand so I didn’t want it to potentially confuse a viewer.
I created a mark that resembles minimal motorcycle or automobile logos with a bold sans serif typeface, Futura, due to its clean, sleek, and timeless letter forms. In my research I found that Brixton creates all their clothing with “timelessness” in mind. Their goal is to make high quality pieces that will last through many generations. The ‘X’ in Brixton sits too perfectly in the middle of the word, so I decided to make that the focal point of the logo and it creates a shape that resembles a shirt collar or an hourglass.
Hat Box Prototype & Hang Tag
Next phase of the rebrand was to create a package prototype for one of their existing products. Brixton originally was a hat making company and eventually expanded to what they are now, a clothing and accessories brand. So, I decided to create a unique and protective box for the hats they are known for. Brixton’s hats are high quality and luxurious, therefore, I needed to approach this prototype with the customer’s experience in mind. When buyers purchase an expensive product, the expectation is for the entire experience with the product and brand to be worth their money.
To achieve that goal I built a dieline (pictured above) that would create this ‘grand reveal’ type of feeling in the customer’s hands. The top flaps mimic the beautiful ‘X’ form in the name Brixton. A black velvet ribbon holds the flaps together when tied in a bow. The hang tag is for a women’s coat. This would be seen attached to the garment in a retail setting. This too is meant to be a clean and luxurious extension of the brand.
Coupon Brochure
This accordion fold prototype would ideally be sent out after the holidays geared towards shoppers who either received Brixton gift cards or got that holiday bonus and have some money to spend, or people who are looking to redeem themselves with a luxurious late Christmas gift. Hints the “Redeem yourself or treat yourself” tagline in the middle inside panels. The print includes a 20% off any flannel coupon on the back panel for shoppers to rip out. Brixton is known for their high quality flannels so I chose to make the brochure and the poster ad push their flannel collections. This brochure would appear in the retail spaces Brixton occupies and be mailed to subscribed customers. The goal for this brochure was to help the retail spaces clear out the fall and winter flannel collections to make room for the spring flannel collection.

This poster was created for Brixton Supply Co. This ad is pushing for shoppers to come in and check out Brixton’s collection of flannels because they are all 40% off, men’s, women’s, and children’s. This would be seen in the front windows of spaces Brixton occupies, such as Sun and Ski Sports, Zumiez, Pacsun, and Tillys.
